Finding a tutor can be overwhelming. Families searching online are met with hundreds of listings, profiles to sift, and unclear pricing. TutorNetwork is a free tutor-matching service that cuts through that with a single, straightforward step: tell us what your child needs and we'll get them matched with the right online tutor from our vetted network.
Who's behind TutorNetwork
TutorNetwork was built by Daniel Pearson. He holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield and has taught maths in person and online, more than 800 hours of it, from nervous Year 6s facing the 11+ to sixth-formers wrestling with calculus. The idea came from their parents: finding a tutor they could trust had been the hard part.
Along the way he got to know the tutoring world from the inside: the people who run the good small tutoring companies, the tutors who work for them, and the industry's own events. That is where the network comes from, and why "run by people we know" is a standard we can actually apply.
Daniel works as a mechanical design engineer, and he still reads every enquiry himself, before it goes anywhere.
What we do
One short form, one careful match, then it's your call. Tell us the level, the subjects and what's worrying them, and add anything that matters: exam boards, resits, tutor preferences. It all travels with your enquiry. About 60 seconds with the kettle on.
We help at every level from primary to A-level. Maths, English and the sciences come up most, but ask us about any subject. If we can't make a match, we email you to say so.
Why one careful match, not a marketplace
The best tutoring often lives in small, quietly brilliant teams you've never heard of. We know them by name, and fly your enquiry to the one best placed to help. Your details go to them and no one else.
You don't trawl a directory, and your phone number isn't passed around. We never sell enquiries, we never send them to several companies at once, and we have no mailing list.
The team stays with you from first hello to first lesson. Tutors arrive handpicked around your child, and nothing starts until one clicks. Usually that's a few good fits to chat with, sometimes one standout. The first chat is free, and if nobody clicks, you've committed to nothing.
Who the tutors are, and how we vet
The tutors are Enhanced DBS checked. We only list a tutoring partner that requires an Enhanced DBS check with the Children's Barred List for every tutor working with children. An Enhanced DBS check is the most thorough criminal record check there is in England and Wales. The Children's Barred List is the official list of people banned by law from working with children.
The tutoring partner checks its tutors. We check the tutoring partner. To be on our list, a tutoring partner must also publish a safeguarding policy, be a registered UK company with a record we have checked, have a strong record of independent reviews, and be run by people we know. We check each of these ourselves. That is what we mean by our vetted network. Our Named Partner List shows who is on it.
What it costs
Nothing, to you. Getting matched is free for families, always. You never pay us, and sending an enquiry doesn't commit you to lessons or to paying anyone. If lessons go ahead, the tutoring partner pays us a referral fee for the lessons you take. It doesn't change the price you pay.
You pay for lessons directly, at the tutor's usual rate. Lessons usually land at £25 to £35 an hour, agreed with you before anything starts.
Your details
Our form never asks for your child's name, date of birth or school. Your enquiry goes to one tutoring partner and no one else. No advertising cookies, no trackers from other companies, and we delete your personal details within two years. The Privacy Notice sets out the rest in plain English.
The company
TutorNetwork is the trading name of Tutor Network Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16713011. We are a small company, founded in September 2025 and run by our founder. Our registered office is Celtic House, 11-12 Neptune Court, Vanguard Way, Cardiff CF24 5PJ. We are registered with the Information Commission under number ZB991621. You can check both numbers on the public registers, at Companies House and on the data protection register.
